Heavy Vehicle Driver – Verification of Competency (VOC)

The assessment ensures drivers can demonstrate they’ve gained the knowledge and understanding (through a training process) to competently operate vehicles to the required standard.

The VOC is conducted by someone who has acquired the knowledge and skills, qualification or experience (or a combination of these) to safely perform the task being assessed.

The assessor must hold a TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or subsequent versions of the qualification.

The assessment is not an authorising or licencing process and does not align to the national qualifications framework.

We’ve developed pro forma VOC documents including front-lift, rear lift, hook truck and side lift, and these documents can be tailored to align with company operating practices and procedures. Alternatively, businesses can provide their VOC documents.

Each VOC requires the person being assessed to go with the assessor as they are performing their work, generally for two hours.
